The brief
Small restaurants get sold software built for chains: a subscription per till, a tablet that has to be replaced, an integration bill. eato had to do the same job — digital menu, orders, payments, back office — for a place with eight tables and no IT budget.
What we did
- Multi-tenant from the first commit: every restaurant isolated inside a shared database
- One Go binary and one SQLite file — the entire platform, deployable anywhere
- Server-rendered with HTMX, so it works on the cheap phone in a waiter's pocket
- A platform console that brings a new restaurant online in minutes
